Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a renowned Indian aerospace scientist and statesman who left an indelible mark on the country's history. Born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Kalam grew up to become one of India's most celebrated leaders.

After graduating from the Madras Institute of Technology in 1960, Kalam joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as a scientist.
